This is a novel exercise to enable visitors to the Pearl of the Indian Ocean to get a ‘Hands On’ experience of the mining of precious stones for which the Island has become famous for. The premier exhibits of any Museum of Natural History reveals that Crystals, Precious Stones & Rocks of the Earth are an important & valuable display of where we belong, what we are & where we come from & where we go to. Before we do that let’s explore the Gems.

Other than Diamonds, Sri Lanka mines every other gemstone especially high quality Blue, Pink, Yellow, Rose & Star Sapphires, Rubies, Catseyes, Emeralds & numerous other semi precious stones which appear real, colorful & affordable.

Tour Highlights :
● Explore the Mining of Precious Stones in the ‘Land of Gems’
● Expedition into a Wild National Park to ‘Spot Leopards’ & see other wildlife
● Hike the ‘Little Adam’s Peak’ where it is believed that fire was first found over 7000 years ago by King Ravana by burying ‘firestone’ under the ground to enable the ignition of fire when the grass dried annually during the hot ‘summer’ period between May, June & July which happens every year.
● Participate in a ‘Hands On’ Cookery Class to prepare 7 dishes in 2 hours & Taste the food
● City Tours of ‘Little England’& Kandy to discern the distinct Architecture
● Visit a Premier Botanical Garden of the world & an Elephant Orphanage The following chart is only a preliminary sketch of an imaginary tour plan of a potential tour, so based on your preferences we can custom make any program to meet your requirements.
